On/Off Hire surveys

On/Off hire survey is carried out to determine the condition of the ship before the start or end of its charter. These measurements are made before the ship is handed over to the charterer (delivery) or returned by the charterer to the shipowner (redelivery).

The inspection report contains, among others, a description of the condition and cleanliness of cargo spaces, the condition of on-board equipment, the amount of bunker (fuels on board) and a list of required certificates.

The condition survey is carried out in order to check the technical condition of reloading equipment, cargo spaces and cargo hold covers. Visual assessment of these elements enables the identification of any damage that occurred before the vessel was taken over or handed over.

The bunker survey is performed to determine the amount of fuels (HFO – heavy fuel oil, MDO – diesel oil) on board. The values determined at the time of measurement are recalculated to obtain the actual amounts of bunkers at the time and place of handover of the ship.

The inspection of the ship’s certificates is carried out in order to establish a list of certificates including, inter alia, dates and places of issue, issuing authorities and expiry dates of the ship’s master certificates.
